once a human, now a ghost

Chronically online and eyes glued to the screen, playing video games deep into the night. She pauses to step out to the nearest convenience store for a snack. It is absolutely down-pouring out there but she hasn't eaten since 1 AM the night before so she grabs her umbrella and heads out anyway. Nonchalantly making her way through the darkened streets and the rain, she thinks of the things she should snack on. A steam bun? A discounted bento box? Ooh maybe even a fun little drink-- she never noticed the man dressed in black, shrouded by the shadow and the rain. He leaps out with a knife and slashes at her repeatedly. With no time to react, there was nothing she could do. She became a random target of a senseless murder.
She awakens again in her bedroom, as though she had just fallen asleep at her computer chair while gaming.
'GAME OVER', it says on her screen. She's dead. She's actually dead. She never even got the chance to get her snacks. What the fu--
